Why We Are Building ProtoLayers - On Mission & Values

It has began on a nice april sunny day...

Introduction

Hi, I'm Damsky, and I'm excited to share our vision for ProtoLayers, a community-driven event that I'm deeply passionate about. As a builder myself, I understand the importance of creating a platform where developers, researchers, and innovators can come together to collaborate, learn, and grow. That's why we've made it our mission to create an event that is truly by builders, for builders.

The Birth of ProtoLayers

The idea for ProtoLayers was born over a beer with a friend in Prague. We were discussing the state of the Ethereum ecosystem after we came from ETHDenver and realized that there was a need for a different kind of event - one that focused on substance over hype, and that brought together the brightest minds in the space to tackle the challenges and opportunities we are facing.

A Community Bootstrap

From the very beginning, ProtoLayers has been a community-bootstrapped initiative. We believe in the power of decentralization and the importance of community involvement in shaping the future of Ethereum. That's why we're relying on the support and participation of individuals and projects within the ecosystem to make ProtoLayers a success. As you might’ve heard, there is a high chance we’ll be going to gitcoin grants to fund this event and will see, how the community feels about it retrospectively.

We are seeing tremendous support from frens, builders, ecosystem projects and organizations. Thank you for that.

Ethereum Alignment

At its core, ProtoLayers is deeply aligned with the values and goals of the community. We believe in the potential of Ethereum to create a more decentralized, transparent, and inclusive world, and we're committed to contributing to that vision in everything we do.

Onboarding New Builders

One of my personal goals for ProtoLayers is to attract and onboard new builders to the ecosystem. I believe that the future of depends on the active participation and contributions of a diverse range of individuals and teams. That's why we're creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where new developers can learn from experienced builders and contribute to the growth of the community.

Workshops, barcamps, firecamp chats, hacking.. it’s all coming in future editions.

Building Meaningful Connections

At ProtoLayers, we're not just focused on the technical aspects of Ethereum; we're also committed to fostering meaningful connections within the community. We understand the value of networking and collaboration, which is why we're exploring multiple initiatives to help this case.

Looking to the Future

As we look to the future, I'm excited about the potential of ProtoLayers to make a lasting impact in web3. By bringing talents together, we have the opportunity to accelerate the development of new technologies, solutions, and opportunities that can shape the future for all of us. The best thing about it it’s in the hands of everyone, not just us.

Conclusion

ProtoLayers is more than just an event to me; it's a passion project that I believe has the potential to make a real difference in the wider space. By focusing on substance, inclusivity, and collaboration, we're creating a platform where builders can connect, learn, and innovate together. I invite you to join me on this journey and be a part of building the future for all of us, one connection at a time.
