Getting Around During Prague Blockchain Week 2024

If you're attending ProtoLayers, ETHPrague, or any other event during Prague Blockchain Week 2024, here's a guide to help you navigate the city and make the most of your stay.

Venues

Transportation

  • When traveling from the airport, always use official services like Uber or Bolt for your safety and to avoid overcharging. Public transport is fine too.

  • For getting around Prague, the metro is often the fastest option. Check Google Maps for metro availability to your destination.

  • Alternatively, use Bolt or Uber for ride-sharing. Scooter bikes are not recommended for navigating Prague's streets. (In our opinion)

Accommodation

  • We recommend staying in the Karlín district of Prague 8, which offers a variety of pubs, restaurants, and cafes.

  • Other parts of Prague like Prague 1 or 2 are also fine, as they are closer to the city center.

Food and Drink

  • For great coffee and brunch options, download the European Coffee Trip app to find the best cafes near you.

  • Check out Dva Kohouti, a local brewery with excellent beer and street food, or Lokál Hamburk, a classic Czech restaurant with good beer.

  • If you need groceries or food delivered to your apartment, use Wolt.com for convenient ordering from their market with most of the stuff you could need.

General Tips

  • Most events will be happening in the Holešovice area, so plan accordingly.

  • As with any city, take care of your belongings and be mindful of your surroundings. However, Prague is generally a very safe city.

Sightseeing

If you still have some energy or spare time during or after the events, we recommend checking out these top 5 sights in Prague:

  1. Charles Bridge: One of the most iconic landmarks in Prague, this historic bridge offers stunning views of the Vltava River and the city skyline. Take a leisurely stroll across the bridge and enjoy the street performers and artists along the way.

  2. Prague Castle: As the largest ancient castle complex in the world, Prague Castle is a must-see attraction. Explore the castle grounds, visit St. Vitus Cathedral, and take in the panoramic views of the city from the castle walls.

  3. Old Town Square: Located in the heart of Prague's Old Town, this square is home to the famous Astronomical Clock, the Church of Our Lady before Týn, and a variety of colorful baroque buildings. It's the perfect spot for people-watching and soaking up the city's vibrant atmosphere.

  4. National Museum: For a dose of culture and history, visit the National Museum, which houses an extensive collection of exhibits ranging from natural sciences to history and the arts. The museum's main building is an architectural gem, recently reopened after an extensive renovation.

  5. Vysehrad: This 10th-century fort offers a peaceful escape from the bustle of the city center. Take a walk through the beautiful Vysehrad Gardens, visit the Neo-Gothic Vysehrad Cemetery where many famous Czechs are buried, and enjoy the view of Prague from the fort's walls.

We hope this guide helps you navigate Prague during Prague Blockchain Week 2024. Enjoy your stay and make the most of the incredible events and networking opportunities!
